Coming off a national championship, the Ohio State football team is expecting to defend that title well, despite the fact that they have lost 15 starters. The coaches across the country agree, as they voted the Ohio State Buckeyes as the second-best team in the country.
Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs give the Buckeyes a great chance to win another national title, as they are the best offensive and defensive players in the country. Both of them are going to be even better for the Buckeyes next year, which should make the team better.
Despite all of those facts, one prominent college football pundit has wildly disrespected the Buckeyes with their preseason rankings. Not only do they not have Ohio State second, but they don't have them in the top five, which is contrary to almost every other pundit.
A college football pundit is wildly disrespecting the Ohio State football team
Greg McElroy of ESPN doesn't have Ohio State in the top five of his preseason ranking. The SEC homer has Ohio State eighth in his rankings, behind four different SEC teams. He also has the same Notre Dame team that lost to OSU in the national title as the third-best team.

McElroy isn't shy when it comes to his love of the SEC, but he usually hides his bias a little bit more than this. The fact that Ohio State is so low despite the level of talent they bring back is surprising. Perhaps he puts a lot of stock in the fact that they will have a new quarterback.
The battle between Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz rages on, but Sayin will likely take the job. Regardless, both are talented enough to not just lead this team to a Big Ten championship, but a national championship with the weapons around them, as well.
Ohio State beat three teams last season ranked ahead of the Buckeyes on his list last season. It's a different team now, but none of those teams, except maybe Texas, is more talented. It's quite shameful that McElroy is disrespecting Ohio State to that degree.
