The Ohio State football program is still trying to add to the 2027 recruiting class. They have had plenty of momentum on the recruiting trail over the last few weeks. The month of June was great for them, especially towards the end. They were able to land a couple of five-star recruits.

The Buckeyes are still in the mix for a couple of five-star recruits. One of them is receiver Monshun Sales. Sales is from Indianapolis, and he attends Lawrence North High School. He is rated as the second-best receiver recruit in the country. Cortez Hankton is working hard to secure a commitment from him.

Sales is someone whom Ohio State has spent a decent amount of time on. It seems that Sales is pretty much down to Indiana and Ohio State, even though he has Alabama, Texas, and LSU as his other finalists. Now, it sounds like he could be making an announcement soon.

Ohio State football recruiting target could make an announcement soon

According to Rivals recruiting insider Greg Smith, a commitment decision from Sales could be coming soon. Up to this point, there has been no indication of when Sales might be making his final decision. Smith now believes that it could come sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Sales would be the second five-star receiver that Hankton would have in the 2027 recruiting class. Ohio State also has Jamier Brown, who is a local kid. The Ohio State Buckeyes are starting to build a very strong recruiting class, but getting Sales would really help push that forward.

Losing Sales to IU would hurt. With them being the defending national champions, they have been able to expand their recruiting footprint. They are starting to land elite recruits with the NIL money they are able to spend. Sales is a local kid, so IU is a slight favorite to bring him in.

The Ohio State football program has plenty of time to land more elite recruits

December is when the first Signing Day is. The Buckeyes not only have to keep the commits they currently have for the class, but also add more kids. Right now, Ohio State has 18 commitments for this class. That gives them the seventh-best recruiting class in the country.

By the time the class is ready to sign, there is a good shot that Ohio State will have a top-five class. The Buckeyes are also still trying to land five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, who is the recruit they have spent the most time on this cycle.

Ohio State has made a very deliberate choice on who they are spending large amounts of NIL money on in this class. Ryan Day has had a bit of a change of heart when it comes to how he wants to recruit high school kids. Certain elite recruits are worth more than others.

If Sales does pick Ohio State over the Hoosiers, it will be yet another big recruiting win for Cortex Hankton on the recruiting trail.
