5-star Ohio State freshman wasting no time impressing for the Buckeyes at camp

It seems Ohio State could have found its replacement for Emeka Egbuka.

Fall camp is here, which means college football is that much closer, and everyone can taste it. Waking up on Saturday mornings to College Gameday and football all day long is almost here, and Ohio State fans are even more excited to get the season started after the team won its first title in 10 years last season.

The Buckeyes have a lot of new faces at camp this year, especially after losing so many to the NFL, and one freshman wide receiver is standing out already. Former 5-star wide receiver Quincy Porter out of the Class of 2025 is making his mark early in training camp, and one of his own teammates, Carnell Tate, is making sure everyone knows about it.

"Quincy is a dog," Tate said. "He's getting his feet settled in, making plays out there, he's gonna be really good."

Those are high words of praise from a veteran receiver on the team. Tate is entering his third season with the Buckeyes and has definitely been a big presence on the offense. Last season, Tate had 52 catches for 733 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 14.1 yards per catch.

Porter has the chance to be a big contributor on the offense this season, especially with Emeka Egbuka leaving for the NFL last season. With Egbuka's spot open, Porter has a prime opportunity to be a starter when the season starts, but he has to continue to impress at camp and not just his teammates, but his coaches too.

As a former 5-star recruit, there was a lot of excitement getting Porter on the field, and it seems like he is living up to the expectations. However, this is just fall camp; playing in an actual game is completely different, and he could be tested quickly in Week 1 against the Texas Longhorns.
