The Ohio State football program is coming off a national championship, so they are the team that everyone in the Big Ten loves to hate. Ryan Day was hated by a large section of his own fan base before winning the title. Now, he has a contract extension and will be with the program for years to come.

Ohio State fans have directed their ire to other coaches across the Big Ten. There are several coaches that fans of the Buckeyes love to hate. There are three coaches in particular that fans love to either poke fun at on social media or just flat-out hate.

1. Dan Lanning

The Oregon head coach has become a target of Ohio State Buckeyes fans in the past year. After Oregon thought they could waltz into the Big Ten and dominate the conference on the way to winning a national title, the Buckeyes put them in their place in the Rose Bowl.

Dan Lanning leads a program that thinks it can throw as much NIL money as possible at prospects and win a title. They also talk a lot of smack, as do the fans of the team. That helps fans dislike Lanning, especially after he thought the Ducks weren't going to have an issue with the Buckeyes ahead of the Rose Bowl. That ended up being false.

2. James Franklin

Every year, Penn State fans think that this is the year that they will be able to beat the Buckeyes. Every year, James Franklin falls short. He has beaten the Buckeyes just once since taking over as the head coach of the Nittany Lions, and they didn't even make the CFP that year while Ohio State did.

Franklin isn't necessarily an unlikable guy by nature. He says all of the right things and doesn't really antagonize the Buckeyes. Ohio State fans just dislike the program in general. Ohio State football fans want him to lead the program forever because it's clear he can't beat the Buckeyes.

3. Sherrone Moore

No coach is more hated by Ohio State fans than Sherrone Moore. It's not just that he coaches TTUN, but he is part of the cheating scandal that rocked college football in 2023. He is suspended for two games in the 2025 season because of his part in that scandal.

Ohio State fans want the Buckeyes to beat both Moore and the Wolverines in 2025 desperately. This should be the year that they break their horrid losing streak, but they still need to prove that they can win against that team under Ryan Day.
