Easily one of the top recognizable names in college football right now is Marvin Harrison Jr. Harrison Jr. is not only the best receiver on the Ohio State football team, but the best receiver in college football. Marvin’s dad, as most know played in the NFL, and in 2016 was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

First, let’s look at a size comparison, Harrison Sr. stood at 6’0 ft and weighed in about 185 lbs. While his son is pretty much the opposite of him, he is 6’4 ft and is 205 lbs. Pretty apparent that Harrison Jr is a tank when next to his father.

Marvin Harrison Sr. went to Syracuse, where he played four years of football. Within his four years, he got a combined total of 2,728 receiving yards with 20 touchdowns. He served as a key asset in his offense. Then he got drafted 19th overall in the NFL draft.

As we all know, Marvin Harrison Jr. decided to play for the Ohio State football team. As it is almost certain that he will be declaring for the draft this year, he would have played one less year than his father did. Harrison Jr. as of right now has 2,465 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns. With one less year, plus one more week and potentially the CFP, he has 300 fewer yards and 9 more touchdowns.

Both were guys their quarterbacks could count on to catch the ball, no matter the situation. Still, though these are two very different types of receivers, and that’s due to the size difference. Marvin Harrison Jr runs fast, has a pretty much perfect route tree, and catches practically any ball you throw his way. He shares some of these characteristics with his dad.

It is simple to see when to look at the stats that Marvin Harrison Jr is going to be better than his dad, but he shares some of his father’s wide receiver abilities. It’s clear to see that his father started teaching him and training him from a young age. The Ohio State football program is thankful for that.
