It’s officially Rivalry Week for both fan bases of the Ohio State football program and the Michigan football team. After both squads won their 11th games of the season, both fanbases turned their attention toward each other and the game that will take place in Ann Arbor next Saturday at noon on the Fox network.

Both teams are 11-0 and ranked in the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings, but that was almost spoiled. Michigan defeated a game Maryland team by the score of 31-24 in what was a much closer game than their fanbase is accustomed to, which has led to some anxiety among the maize and blue faithful.

The Buckeyes on the other hand had another slow start offensively, which was something they have done all season until last week against Michigan State. Coming out of halftime on the first play from scrimmage, TreVeyon Harrison scored on a 75-yard run, followed by a strip sack by Jack Sawyer which set up a second score, and after one minute and six seconds into the second half, the Buckeyes put the game out of reach.

Now that these “trap games” are behind both teams, everyone can take a deep breath and begin focusing on one another. This is the week that we all love. The week when Ohio State football fans begin placing red X’s on the letter M all over campus, the city, and on social media. So go ahead and put that X on those M’s Buckeye fans.

This week will bring out the best and worst in these two fanbases. Social media will become even more volatile than it already has been, and if you have been following the Michigan cheating scandal online, it has been very volatile between these two rival fanbases this season.

Whether you are a fan of Ohio State or That Team Up North, embrace this rivalry. Without a doubt, it’s the greatest rivalry in all of sports.
