Ohio State Football: Michigan fires coach in response to info gathered in scandal
By Ryan Stano
More information has come out about the Michigan sign-stealing scandal, which affected the Ohio State football team and all other Big Ten teams, that has led to the firing of a coach.
We told you yesterday that Michigan decided to stop fighting the Big Ten when Jim Harbaugh accepted his suspension, meaning he won’t coach against the Ohio State football team in two weeks. It was strange that Michigan suddenly decided to stop fighting the Big Ten for some reason.
Now we know why that may have happened. Michigan has announced that they have fired linebackers coach Chris Partridge. This was in response to something the NCAA shared with Michigan in light of the hearing that was supposed to happen yesterday. You can see this from a tweet below.
Reportedly, Partridge was one of Connor Stalions’ closest friends on the team. The evidence that the NCAA had must have been pretty damning for TTUN to decide to take the Harbaugh suspension and then fire a coach. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
If the NCAA has evidence like that, I can only imagine what else they’ve already uncovered. This thing is far from over, even though Harbaugh has the suspension for the rest of the season. There will be more information that comes out each day about what the NCAA has on Michigan.
I fully expect the Wolverines to get hammered by the NCAA when the season is over. All options are on the table, including loss of scholarships, vacated victories, and even a possible bowl ban. I wouldn’t be shocked if Harbaugh got a show cause either if you add these with the other violations he has.
As far as the Ohio State football team is concerned, they will face Michigan next week with two fewer coaches on Michigan’s sideline.
