The Ohio State football team had a good time dominating Michigan State last weekend. Now they move on to focus on a new opponent. They welcome the Minnesota Golden Gophers in for Senior Day. It’s the last home game of the season and the final tune-up for the Buckeyes before The Game.

Minnesota comes into this game 5-5 but has lost two straight games. They lost to Illinois and Purdue, neither of which are good losses. Minnesota’s best win was at Iowa, so they can still play good football against good teams. They are just outmatched in talent in this one.

Ohio State football vs. Minnesota Odds, Spread and Total

According to FanDuel, the Buckeyes are currently favored by 28.5 points. That is a large spread but it makes sense. Ohio State was favored by 31.5 against Michigan State and easily covered that spread. The over/under for this game is 48.5, which seems a bit high.

This will be the final game in which the Buckeyes can work on their flaws before taking on TTUN in what will be the most charged-up atmosphere they’ve seen all year. I would expect them to continue to work on the passing game and stopping the run against the Gophers.

Ohio State football vs. Minnesota Key Players to Watch

For the Buckeyes, keep an eye on Emeka Egbuka. Ohio State needs another receiver besides Marvin Harrison Jr. to put up big numbers because we know Michigan will be focused on him. Since this game is about preparing for that one, Egbuka could get a lot of looks this week.

On Minnesota’s side, defensive lineman Danny Striggow is someone the Buckeyes need to pay attention to. Striggow has six sacks so far on the season. They could line him up across from Josh Fryar, who is the worst pass blocker the Buckeyes have. They can’t let him wreak havoc in the backfield.

Ohio State football vs. Minnesota Prediction

Yes, Ohio State will have one eye on The Game on Saturday. No, it won’t matter. Minnesota is decent, but they aren’t good enough to stay with the Buckeyes on the road. Ohio State’s offense is something they just won’t be able to stop. The Buckeyes’ defense is too good to move the ball on too.
