Ohio State Football: Kyle McCord puts concerns to bed
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team never had any issues with Michigan State on Saturday night. They beat the Spartans 38-3 and never trailed in the game. Part of the reason why they were so dominant is the great play of quarterback Kyle McCord.
McCord played the best game of his career. He finished 24/31 for 335 yards and three touchdowns. He was in complete control of the game. Not only did he look cool and calm back in the pocket, but his confidence was high as well. That’s something the Buckeyes needed to see.
The better that McCord plays, the better this Ohio State football team is. He is the player that can make this team elite. The defense is already elite. The Buckeyes have already won several games with their defense. If the offense can match the level of play from the defense, they will be hard to beat.
Michigan State is a bad football team. That is undeniable. Beating up on a bad football team doesn’t mean a whole lot on the surface. What it does do is keep the confidence of McCord high, which is what you want heading into the Michigan game. His confidence has to be sky-high for that one.
Having the best receiver in the country to throw to helps out a lot too. Marvin Harrison Jr. Had 7 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a 19-yard touchdown run. Getting him the ball is a great way for this offense to put points on the board.
Fans have had a divided opinion on McCord this season. This performance should put any concerns that fans have about him to bed. He may not be an elite quarterback like C.J. Stroud was, but he is definitely good enough to win a national championship.
That’s the ultimate goal for this Buckeye team.
