The Ohio State football team has received a welcomed boost from TreVeyon Henderson over the past few weeks. He could be the key to a national title.

The Ohio State football team needed to get something out of its running game this season and boy have they the past two weeks. A refreshed and healthy TreVeyon Henderson has delivered in a big way for the Buckeyes.

With 290 yards rushing, 125 yards receiving, and two touchdowns, Henderson has been the catalyst of the Ohio State offense the past two games. The Buckeyes will need every bit of that if they want to beat Michigan up in Ann Arbor, and then possibly in the College Football Playoffs to win a national title in 2023.

This Ohio State offense has really lacked the explosive plays this season that we’ve come to expect. With Emeka Egbuka banged up, and Henderson out the majority of the season, the only real threat for big plays was Marvin Harrison. That certainly has changed since Henderson’s arrival, and one could see why his presence on the field is so vital for the Buckeyes.

His 65-yard catch-and-run in the third quarter against Rutgers all but sealed the win for Ohio State and it’s the kind of play that could help massively in the biggest of games coming up. A play that should have gone for eight or ten yards turned into a massive play in terms of both yardage and momentum.

The key to winning a national championship could rest at the feet of Henderson. Ohio State clearly does not have another back like him on the roster. It is imperative that Ryan Day and the Ohio State medical team can have Henderson available down the stretch run. Even if that means sitting him for the next two weeks against Michigan State and Minnesota.

Next. Buckeye run defense is alarming. dark

Hopefully, we see what Henderson can really do on the biggest of stages.
