Ohio State Football: Three Bold Predictions for Rutgers game

Even though Rutgers has vastly improved over the previous seasons, I think this could be a banner day for the Ohio State football team. Rutgers is one of the better-rushing teams in the Big Ten, but if the Buckeyes sell out to stop the run and force Gavin Wimsatt into becoming a pocket passer, this Silver Bullet defense will feast on its way to a shutout.

Offensively, I will look for Dallan Hayden to re-emerge as the lead back for this game on his way to a big performance. Kyle McCord should hopefully get on track as well. The key to this game offensively will be time of possession and limiting turnovers. If Ohio State can handle those areas well, a 30-point outcome should be likely.

Of course, the X-factor in all of this will be Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano, who is always a wildcard in games like this. He surely will dial up a trick play or two, maybe even try to catch Ohio State napping on special teams. The Buckeyes will need to be focused mentally on every play with Schiano on the other sideline.

But in the end, I think  Ohio State is due for a complete performance from all phases. And while Rutgers needs to be commended for becoming a respectable program, the Buckeyes should dominate the day in Piscataway.
