The first College Football Playoff rankings come out tomorrow. As we know, these are the rankings that everyone cares about. They determine who makes the CFP and who will sit at home. While the Ohio State football team is ranked third in the polls, where should they be in the CFP rankings?

In my opinion, the Buckeyes should be no worse than two. They have the two best wins of any team in the country after having beaten both Notre Dame and Penn State. A win at Wisconsin is solid too. No team can claim two wins against teams ranked that highly.

Ohio State also has played a tougher schedule than any of the other undefeated teams and it’s not particularly close. They are 15th in that regard. The next closest undefeated team is Florida State at 49. That’s what gives them the number one strength of record too.

Not only does Ohio State have a great strength of schedule so far, but they have a great SOS remaining as well. They are 10th in the country. So not only did they have a tough schedule to navigate the first two-thirds of the season, but they will moving forward as well.

I will only accept Georgia being ranked higher than the Ohio State football team. That’s because they are the two-time defending national champions who also beat the Buckeyes last season. They also have beaten both Florida and Kentucky pretty handily.

Under no circumstances should Michigan be ranked higher than the Ohio State Buckeyes. They had a garbage non-conference schedule. The only half-decent team they’ve played so far is Rutgers, whom they beat 31-7. Their resume doesn’t warrant being ranked ahead of Ohio State thus far.

I’ll be very interested to see where the Buckeyes are in the first rankings tomorrow night. They will definitely be in the top four. How high they get ranked will determine what kind of leash they have to lose to TTUN.
