Total Confidence Level – 78

I thought for sure I would be over 80 percent confident that the Ohio State football team would win when I sat down to write this column. Alas, here we are for a second straight week under the 80 percent threshold. Now, I’m not at 62 percent like I was last week, but anything under 80 percent is cause for concern if you ask me.

There are several factors I can point to as to why this is. First, the offense outside of Marvin Harrison Jr. hasn’t been good. I still believe Kyle McCord is developing on schedule, but I don’t believe he can carry a team, much like C.J. Stroud, Justin Fields, and Dwayne Haskins could. Next, the special teams have been mediocre at best this season.

And finally, this one is on the road in a hostile environment against a good team, that has a pissed-off coach who would rather be a Buckeye than a Badger and wants to prove to the world that Gene Smith made the wrong decision hiring Day over him.

All of that adds up to a confidence level score under 80 percent for this week.

At the end of the day tomorrow, there will be upsets. It’s a weekly occurrence in college football. Hopefully, for the Ohio State football program, they won’t be the one who gets upset.
