Ohio State Football: Buckeyes own James Franklin
The Ohio State football team put on a great display Saturday afternoon in beating Penn State 20-12. The Buckeyes own James Franklin.
The Ohio State football team beat the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday afternoon in Ohio Stadium 20-12. It was a great day for the Buckeye defense and for Marvin Harrison Jr. who has completely dismantled Penn State in the previous two matchups.
But following the victory yesterday, it’s safe to assume that this Ohio State football program owns Penn State head coach James Franklin. Time and again Franklin thinks he has a team that can beat Ohio State and win the Big Ten, and time and again he fails to do so.
This is Ohio State’s seventh victory in a row over Penn State. Penn State only has one win in the last 12 games between the two sides. Franklin’s career record vs. Ohio State is 1- 10. It’s no wonder why the Penn State administration wants to take a break from playing the Buckeyes every year.
I’m not here to beat up on Penn State. They have a very good football program run under Franklin and his staff. He usually wins ten games a season. And they do have talent as the recruiting rankings have been fine under his watch.
But this guy can’t win a big game at all. And while a ton of people around the country believed that this could be a breakout year for Penn State, it appears to just be another normal Penn State football season for the Nittany Lions.
But it is another top-10 win for Ohio State and that will help them come time for the CFP rankings. I have no confidence that Franklin and Penn State could beat Michigan coming up, so it looks like a massive showdown is looming for the Wolverines and Ohio State in Ann Arbor at the end of November.
