This is a chance for Ohio State Football to get some respect
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has the best win of any Big Ten team right now. They beat Notre Dame on the road at night. That same Notre Dame team just dismantled USC on Saturday night in a game that was never close. Yet, you never hear the Buckeyes get any credit for that win.
National media people only talk about how dominant Michigan has looked or how good of a win Texas had over Alabama. That same Texas team lost two weeks ago to Oklahoma, by the way. Michigan hasn’t played anyone yet. In fact, the combined record of their opponents is 22-22.
This is a week that the Ohio State football team can command the respect they deserve. Beating Penn State on Saturday afternoon would give them the two best wins that anyone has had up to this point in the season. Only Florida State would even be able to come close if they win this weekend.
The Buckeyes have one of the best defenses in the country and have the best receiver in the country. They have a quarterback that has gotten better every week. The only thing that could slow them down is injury, but that should be resolved later this week.
For my money, this is probably the second-best Penn State team the Buckeyes have faced in the last 15 years. Only that Saquon Barkley team back in 2017 was better, and the Buckeyes came back to beat them. This year’s team is pretty close to that in my opinion.
Ohio State still has to play a really good game to win this week. They can’t beat the Nittany Lions with their “B” game. They have to play their “A” game. This defense has proven over the course of this season that they can be leaned on in big spots. This is the biggest spot of the season so far.
It’s time the Ohio State Buckeyes got their respect. This is the game to prove that they deserve it.
