The Ohio State football team obliterated Purdue on Saturday 41-7 in what could have been a trap game. Instead, the Buckeyes were able to take care of business and make sure it was never close. The defense was especially impressive, especially the pass defense.

That pass defense against Purdue helped them land a four-star recruit on Saturday. Around the fourth quarter, Blake Woodby had seen enough. The four-star cornerback decided that he wanted to play for the Ohio State football program once he comes in with the class of 2025.

Woodby is from Baltimore, Maryland, and is rated as the 9th-best corner in the country for the class of 2025. He stands at just 5’11 and 180 pounds but has some great ball skills. He’s also very fast so he can stay with the fast receivers on deep routes.

Based on the tape I’ve seen, Woodby is able to play both man and zone coverage pretty well. He uses his hands well to knock the ball away and get some picks. Despite his size, he can still defend bigger receivers well. He’ll also put on some weight once he gets to college.

Woodby becomes the third member of Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class. Ryan Day and his staff haven’t spent a ton of time recruiting for the 2025 class yet, but that will come. The Buckeyes have been trying to improve their secondary and Woodby can help them do that.

Ohio State’s secondary has been excellent this year and it was really good again against Purdue. That play must’ve been enough for Woodby to commit to Ryan Day and the Buckeyes. It’s good to see the good play from the secondary get noticed by recruits.

Hopefully, the Buckeyes continue to play that well on defense and they can land more recruits on that side of the ball.
