The Ohio State football team came into Saturday afternoon’s game looking to avenge the 2018 loss. It was the first time they had traveled to West Lafayette since that upset loss. They wanted to erase that bad taste out of their mouth. Boy, did they do that!

Ohio State destroyed Purdue, beating them 41-7 in a game that was never close. The Buckeyes got ahead 20-0 to start the game in the first half after the Boilermakers missed two field goals. They would miss three on the day. Even if they would’ve made those kicks, it still wouldn’t have mattered.

Kyle McCord played great. He finished the game 16/28 for 276 yards and three touchdowns. His stat line should have been even better but several receivers had drops. It was honestly the best game that he’s played so far this year. All of his throws were on target.

Marvin Harrison Jr. had 6 catches for 105 yards and a touchdown. He did have a few drops though, which is very unlike him. He was un-coverable throughout the whole game. Ohio State’s strength is passing the ball and that’s what they did the best on Saturday.

The defense was good once again. They only allowed 134 yards passing from Purdue. While the rush defense wasn’t super great, they still only allowed 3.7 yards per carry. The best thing the defense did was only give up 7 points. They even got to the quarterback, recording three sacks.

There are still things this Ohio State football team needs to work on. The offensive line was a mess again and there were dumb special teams penalties. Those will need to be fixed before taking on Penn State next week. But this was an impressive win during a trap game.

dark. Next. Justin Frye starting to feel some pressure

Time for the Buckeyes to get ready for a big one at home next weekend in the Shoe.
