By Eric Boggs
The Ohio State football team added another defensive recruit to their 2024 class. Leroy Roker, a three-star safety from Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers, Florida announced on Wednesday afternoon that he is going to be a Buckeye.

Roker, who has been compared to a poor man’s Malik Hooker, is another late-blooming recruit who the Ohio State defensive coaches and recruiting personnel have landed on late in the recruiting process. The multi-sport athlete is also very good at basketball, averaging 17.1 points per game for Fort Myers Canterbury before transferring to Bishop Verot for his senior season.
In his first game for the Vikings, Roker scored a 70-yard touchdown while finishing with five tackles and a pair of interceptions.
Roker made his decision after taking a visit to Ohio State this past weekend for the Maryland game. He chose Ohio State over Miami and Iowa. Roker is viewed as a developmental project with a high ceiling as a free safety.
That brings the Ohio State football program’s total commitments for the class of 2024 to 22 with 10 being on defense and 12 on offense. The other defensive commitments are 5-star DE Eddrick Houston, 5-star DT Justin Scott, 4-star DT Eric Mensah, 4-star LB Payton Pierce, 4-star LB/S Garrett Stover, 4-star CB Bryce West, 4-star CB Aaron Scott, 4-star CB Miles Lockhart, and 4-star S Jaylen McClain
The offensive commitments are 5-star WR Jeremiah Smith, 5-star WR Mylan Graham, 4-star QB Air Noland, 4-star RB James Peoples, 4-star RB Jordan Lyle, 4-star WR Jeremiah McClellan, 4-star TE Max LeBlanc, 4-star TE Damarion Witten, 4-star OL Ian Moore, 4-star OL Devontae Armstrong, 4-star OL Deontae Armstrong, and 3-star HB Sam Williams-Dixon.
Ohio State is currently ranked second overall in the country in the 247sports composite rankings for the 2024 recruiting cycle. Look for Ohio State to add at least one more offensive recruit and possibly two more defensive recruits before the cycle is over.
