Ohio State basketball has a ton of Peacock games this year
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team released their TV schedule for all of their games this upcoming season. Despite this team not being great last year, they should be a better team this year. Otherwise, Chris Holtmann might be looking for another job.
If you thought Ohio State football having a game on Peacock was bad this year, then you are not going to be happy with the basketball schedule. The Ohio State basketball team has five (!!!) games exclusively on Peacock this year. That’s the second-most of any Big Ten team.
The second game of the season against preseason top-25 team Texas A&M is one of those games. That game is on November 10th. Ohio State also plays Peacock games against Nebraska, Illinois, IU, and Wisconsin. Three of those are premium games that fans would love to watch on regular TV.
Those aren’t the only games that Buckeye fans will have to pay a subscription service in order to watch. They also play some games on B1G+, which is subscription-based. The Buckeyes play Oakland, Miami of Ohio, and New Orleans on B1G+.
That means that Ohio State plays eight games on a subscription service this year. That’s 27.5% of their games. That’s an absurd amount. It’s an unfortunate reality that football money has made this the case and it’s going to cost Ohio State basketball fans more to watch their team play.
There is a chance that some of these games get flexed out of these spots if they end up being a good team later in the year. I wouldn’t count on that. We will do a basketball preview very soon that will give you our thoughts on how this team will do this season.
It’s a shame that Ohio State is relegated to Peacock so often in their first season under this new contract.
