Lee Corso is a national treasure. He has been on College Gameday since it started. Since 1996, he has made headgear picks for the game that Gameday travels to. His very first headgear was Brutus for the Ohio State football team. He has put on Brutus more than any other headgear.

Gameday was in South Bend today for the Ohio State/Notre Dame game. He had a choice to make between the Irish and the Buckeyes. Ohio State comes into the game as a 3.5-point favorite, so even if he chose the Irish it wouldn’t be that much of an underdog pick.

The first few picks on set went as expected. You knew Desmond Howard, noted Buckeye-hater, was going to choose Notre Dame. That’s exactly what he did. Kirk Herbstreit got to make a rare pick on Gameday because he wasn’t calling the game. He picked the Ohio State football team.

The guest picker was Vince Vaughn. He picked the Irish, as expected. Pat McAfee said a bunch of nice things about the Buckeyes before picking Notre Dame. All that was left was for Corso to make his pick. He wore a green tie, which made you think he was going to choose the Irish.

Not so fast my friend! He picked up the Brutus head and put it on. The Buckeyes were once again Corso’s pick to win in South Bend. It’s always great to see Corso pick Ohio State, especially when the Buckeyes are on the road. We don’t know how many more years Corso has left to do this.

Next. Three keys to Ohio State beating Notre Dame. dark

Hopefully, the Buckeyes make both Herbie and Corso correct when they play tonight at 7:30. There will be plenty of Buckeye fans there. In fact, it could be a 50/50 split in the crowd. That would be really nice to see.
