3. The Ohio State football team needs to limit big plays from Notre Dame

The biggest thing the Ohio State football team struggled with last year was giving up big plays, particularly pass plays. Big plays against TTUN and Georgia ended up being too much to overcome and resulted in losses. The secondary can’t let that happen on Saturday.

The secondary has been really good so far this season. Denzel Burke looks like a better version of his 2021 self. That version of him was an All-American. The safeties look more comfortable this season too, which has been a problem over the past couple of seasons.

Limiting large gains in the passing game is something Ohio State has to do to win this game. It might be the most important of these three keys. They typically don’t give up big run plays, except for a couple last year against TTUN, so I’m more worried about chunks of yards through the air.

If the Buckeyes are able to limit big plays through the air, they have a really good shot to win this game and stay undefeated. It would potentially be the best win that anyone has so far this season. At worst, it would be a top-three win.

If Ohio State is able to do these three things, there’s no reason they can’t walk out of South Bend with a win. They are the favorites for a reason. It should be a really fun game to watch after a day of some really good matchups.
