Final Score Prediction: Ohio State football 42, Western Kentucky 28

I think this is a game where the offense starts to take off while the defense comes back to earth a bit. This also could be a bit of a letdown game with Notre Dame on the schedule for next week.

Through two games, the defensive line has given me no reason to believe that they could generate a pass rush. If Ohio State can’t get pressure on Western Kentucky’s Austin Reed, it could be a long day for them.

We are going to find out a lot about this Ohio State secondary in this game. Through two games, Reed has passed for 589 yards and six touchdowns, compared to zero interceptions. He’s also completing 68 percent of his throws.

Offensively the Buckeyes hopefully will start to click. They looked solid last week in scoring touchdowns on six of nine possessions. I look forward to seeing more of the same against a better team in WKU. I would love to see this Buckeye offensive line start moving the other team off the ball and I think they will come out angry and do so in this game.

Overall, this is a good warmup game for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame next week. This Hilltopper offense is formidable and should give the Buckeye defense a good test. And for that reason, I think Western Kentucky hangs around and keeps the game closer than expected.

Ohio State 42, Western Kentucky 28.
