Ohio State Football: Confidence level against Youngstown State
By Eric Boggs
Urban Meyer once famously stated, “The best part about going 1-0 is a chance to go 2-0.” As ugly as the Ohio State football team’s 23-3 win at Indiana was last week, it was still a win. The AP voters also felt the Buckeye win wasn’t very impressive, dropping them from three to five in this week’s poll. All of that is now out of their control. What they can control is how they approach their next game, which happens to be the home opener against Youngstown State.
Of course, when one hears the name Youngstown State, one can’t help but think about one of Ohio State’s most beloved coaches in Jim Tressel. Tressel coached 14 seasons at Youngstown State before he roamed the sidelines at Ohio Stadium adorned in his sweater vest. During his time at YSU, he won four Division I AA National Championships. He then went on to win a National Championship at Ohio State in 2002.
While at Ohio State, Tressel coached against the Penguins on two occasions. The first was in 2007 when the Buckeyes won 38-6. The other was the very next season when they won 43-0. Tressel will be back in Ohio Stadium this weekend for the third game between the two schools. There has been no announcement as of yet, but many Buckeyes fans are hoping that Tressel becomes only the third coach in school history to receive the honor of dotting the “I” in Script, Ohio. The other two were Woody Hayes and Earle Bruce.
It’s going to be awesome to see Tressel in Ohio Stadium once again, but he won’t be coaching either team. So, let’s dive into theis coaching staff and begin our confidence level journey for this week.
