The Ohio State football team has the best collection of receivers in the country. They have two players who will be first-round picks in next year’s draft as well as a whole room full of former five-star recruits behind them ready to make an impact when those two guys leave.

One of those two guys, Marvin Harrison Jr., might be the best player in the country. He is one of the preseason favorites for the Heisman Trophy. He gave some high praise to a current freshman on the Ohio State football team that should get fans really excited.

Harrison Jr. said that Carnell Tate is already at a higher level of play than he was when he was a freshman. Tate was someone who was turning heads in the Spring and was showing why he was highly sought after on the recruiting trail despite not even being the highest-rated receiver in Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class.

Tate is a five-star recruit who is playing like one. He’s 6’2 and 191 pounds and has an incredible catch radius. What got Ohio State coaches so excited is how smooth he is out of his break. His route running is already impeccable. That’s part of the reason Harrison Jr. said what he said.

Because the Buckeyes have so many great receivers on the team this year, Tate is unlikely to see a lot of playing time as a freshman. With that being said, he’s the freshman with the best chance to see some playing time from the 2023 recruiting class in my opinion. He’s that good.

Next. Three bold predictions for the 2023 season. dark

Tate is certainly on track to be the next great Ohio State wide receiver. All he needs is the opportunity to show that he is ready for the moment. He’s going to get that opportunity as soon as next season once Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka head to the NFL.
