The Ohio State football team kicks off its season two weeks from today. They are one of the favorites to win the Big Ten and make the College Football Playoff. This is the last season that the Playoff will be with four teams, so this is the last season the Buckeyes have to stress about it.

This is a pivotal season for Ryan Day and his staff. Day has lost two straight games to TTUN. That hasn’t happened since John Cooper. If he loses three straight games to them, Buckeye fans might chase him out of Columbus as soon as the plane lands from Ann Arbor.

The season will likely come down to that game once again. Although, we did see the Buckeyes make the Playoff last year having lost that game. Perhaps that could happen again. That’s not something we want to have to find out.

I have three bold predictions for the Buckeyes this season. The first one that comes to mind deals with the wide receivers.

1. Emeka Egbuka leads the Ohio State football team in receiving

We know that the Ohio State football team has the best group of receivers in the country. They might have the best overall player in Marvin Harrison Jr. He’s definitely the best receiver in the country. So why won’t he lead his own team in receiving?

I think that he is going to get double-teamed so much that the Buckeyes will find Emeka Egbuka more. It’s not like Egbuka is some slouch. He’s projected to be a top-ten pick too. He’d be the do-doubt number-one receiver on any other team in the country.

Marvin is going to get his for sure. But I do think that Egbuka ultimately ends up with more receiving yards than him. It’s a pretty good luxury for the Buckeyes to have receivers that are as good as these two guys!

The next bold prediction has to deal with the defense.
