Ohio State Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2023 season
Week 7: Sat, October 14th @ Purdue TBD
Ohio State will not want a repeat of 2018 when they got crushed in West Lafayette by an inferior Purdue team. Following the Notre Dame loss, this Buckeye team will be on a mission. Buckeyes win big once again.
Ohio State 45, Purdue 16 (5-1)
Week 8: Sat, October 21st vs 7 Penn State TBD
Another massive game on this Ohio State schedule and possibly the best team the Buckeyes will face all season. If Drew Allar can be everything a five-star quarterback is supposed to be, this Penn State team will be dangerous. But with this game in Columbus, I give the edge to Ohio State.
Ohio State 41, Penn State 28 (6-1)
Week 9: Sat, Oct 28th @ 19 Wisconsin TBD
Back-to-back huge games for the Ohio State football team. Luke Fickell and his squad will have this game circled all season. And playing in Camp Randall is one of the toughest environments in all of college football. But in the end, I think talent wins out.
Ohio State 34, Wisconsin 24 (7-1)
Week 10: Sat, November 4th @ Rutgers TBD
A bit of a breather for the Ohio State football team as they travel to Piscataway. Rutgers should once again be near the bottom of the Big Ten East standings as this game shouldn’t threaten Ohio State at all.
Ohio State 56, Rutgers 13 (8-1)
Week 11: Sat, November 11th vs Michigan State 7:30 PM
A night game in November at Ohio Stadium? Thanks to the new Big Ten TV contract with NBC we have one. This game will be interesting as Michigan State should be a better team than they were in 2022. But I still don’t believe that Mel Tucker has the talent to compete with Ohio State.
Ohio State 36, Michigan State 14 (9-1)
Week 12: Sat, November 18th vs Minnesota TBD
This could be a sneaky game before the big one at the end of the month. PJ Fleck will have his team motivated to play in The Shoe so the Buckeyes better come to play. But I don’t believe they will let the Golden Gophers stand in the way of a chance at a Big Ten title.
Ohio State 42, Minnesota 23 (10-1)
Week 13: Sat, November 25th @ 2 Michigan12:00 PM
Here we are, end of November with another top-10 matchup between the Buckeyes and Wolverines. Ryan Day needs to get this monkey off his back and these Ohio State players need to start a new collection of Gold Pants. I think the key to this game will be Ohio State’s quarterback. Is he ready for the biggest of stages by this time in the season?
Ohio State 38, Michigan 33 (11-1)
There you have it Buckeye fans, an 11-1 season with a victory over Michigan to cap it off. It will be on to Indianapolis for a Big Ten championship game and then hopefully on to the College Football Playoffs for Ryan Day’s team.
