Ohio State Football ranked behind Georgia, TTUN in AP Poll
By Ryan Stano
The first AP Poll of the season has come out. We saw that the Ohio State football team was ranked fourth in the Coaches Poll. Now the poll that actually matters has come out and the Buckeyes are actually ranked higher in this one.
Ohio State is ranked third in the AP Poll. The only teams ranked ahead of them are Georgia and TTUN respectively. They are also ranked just ahead of Alabama, who sits fourth. LSU rounds out the top five in the Poll, with USC, Penn State, Florida State, Clemson, and Washington after that.
This seems right where the Buckeyes should be. Georgia is the back-to-back national champs. Having them anything but first would be wrong. Ohio State has lost to Michigan in back-to-back years as well, so they deserve to be ranked ahead of the Buckeyes.
I’m a little surprised Ohio State is ahead of Bama because I know how much the media loves Bama but I do agree with it. I think Ohio State is the better football team and will be throughout the year. The media got that one right in my opinion.
There are a total of five Big Ten teams in the top 25. Other than the Ohio State football team and TTUN, Penn State is the highest-ranked Big Ten team at 7th. Wisconsin comes in at 19th. Iowa is ranked 25th and rounds out the current Big Ten teams in the top 25.
Future Big Ten members are also high on this preseason Poll. USC, who joins next year, is ranked 6th. Washington and Oregon will also be joining the Big Ten next season and are ranked 10th and 15th. It’s a strong showing for the future of the Big Ten in football.
All that matters is that the Buckeyes finish in the top four at the end of the season. Hopefully, they can do that.
