After months of waiting. We are getting closer to the beginning of the Ohio State football season. We are within a month of the season starting. As we get closer, more and more questions are being asked. One of which is how will Ohio State’s offensive line look this season.

Losing starters to the NFL like Luke Wypler, Dawand Jones, and first-round pick, Paris Johnson Jr is a tough replacement. The offensive line did look a little shaky in the spring game. But it is just a spring game, and we believe the line has improved over this summer.

In this new era of college football, coach Ryan Day was able to land some important transfers to the offensive line. One is expected to make an early impact. The other could be seen as a depth piece, a development product. However, in this new age, you can’t have enough depth!

Especially at a position like the offensive line. It is one of the toughest spots to be on a football field. In the Big Ten, you face some of the best defensive linemen in the country, so having some extra insurance at those positions is critical to a national title run.

So with that, here we go, here are the two transfer portal offensive linemen that the Ohio State football teamlanded from this past cycle that could make an impact this season!

Vic Cutler, Center: Former school, Louisiana Monroe

While Cutler is coming from a smaller Sun Belt school, do not let that fool you. Coach Justin Frye sees potential in Cutler. During his time as a Warhawk, he gained experience and was able to play many positions. Cutler was able to be the left tackle, and the right tackle at times. Impressively, Cutler made 21 starts at three positions.

However, he seemed to have most of his success at the center position. He was getting reps with the second-team offense during spring ball according to The Columbus Dispatch. Cutler brings experience to a youthful offensive line. While he may not see much starting time this season, he could be a valuable asset if an injury occurs. If not, he can have another offseason to work toward landing a starting position.

Josh Simmons, Tackle: Former school: San Diego State

Simmons was a gem pickup in this past cycle. He is listed at 6’5 310 pounds according to the official Ohio State roster. Simmons is likely to start at the right tackle position this fall. Like Cutler, Simmons brings experience to an offensive line that does not have much underneath its belt.

Last season he started 13 games with the Aztecs. Coach Frye recruited Simmons to play for UCLA when he was coaching there. While Simmons signed with the Aztecs, Frye will get a chance to coach Simmons now as both are Buckeyes.

While Ohio State landed only two linemen prospects, this should show you something. Many fans are worried about the offensive line this fall. Rightfully so, you lost three players to the NFL Draft. However, it would seem that the coaching staff believes in the offensive line they have now, as it is likely that only one transfer will be starting on the offensive line this fall. Fans will trust the judgment of Coach Ryan Day and Coach Frye.
