Recruiting is really heating up for the Ohio State football team as a key five-star player is set to give his commitment come Saturday.

The Ohio State football team got some great news last weekend as four-star corner Aaron Scott of Springfield, Ohio gave his verbal commitment to the Buckeyes. Ohio State will be looking to add another prized defensive back come next weekend.

Five-star, top-10 national player KJ Bolden, of Buford, Georgia, is set to give his verbal commitment on Saturday. This is a major target for the Buckeyes and safeties coach Perry Eliano, who is looking to catch his first big fish as an Ohio State coach. It should only help that Bolden and Eliano are indeed cousins.

This has been a complicated recruitment and a tough one for experts to peg for a while now. Many believe that Georgia is in the lead for the home state recruit, but others think that Ohio State is in the driver’s seat. Further complicating matters, Bolden said that a recent trip to Auburn went great and that they are definitely in his top two schools under consideration.

Getting Bolden to Columbus would be a major win for this coaching staff. A top-10 recruit plucked from Georgia’s backyard would send shockwaves through Dawg Nation down south. But while all indications are that Bolden has enjoyed his visits to Ohio State and that he has a great relationship with Eliano, this is starting to look like an uphill fight as we inch closer to Saturday.

I currently believe he winds up in Athens but who knows if Auburn secured an enticing NIL package for Bolden. I’d love to be pleasantly surprised come Saturday, and adding Bolden would surely make this one of the best recruiting classes in Ohio State history.

But it looks like Ohio State is in a better spot with fellow five-star defensive end Edrick Houston. Houston is set to give his commitment later in August and is currently crystal ball picked to wind up in Columbus.
