We know that the Ohio State football team still needs to go up one more small level on the field. The gap between them and Georgia isn’t very wide as evidenced by last year’s Peach Bowl. There is no gap when it comes to recruiting between them though.

Ohio State is clearly on par with them on the recruiting trail. Right now, the Buckeyes are just behind them in the recruiting rankings with the second-best class in the country. That’s also with Georgia having seven more commits up to this point. Their class is almost full.

The Buckeyes have plenty of room to add more talent to this already stellar class. The 2024 class could end up going down as the best class in school history. Ryan Day has shown that he is an elite recruiter. His 2021 class is the best in school history when the Buckeyes landed a whopping seven 5-star recruits.

There’s a real shot that the Ohio State football program ends up with the best recruiting class in the country when everything is all said and done. The next step after that is to develop these players to be consistently elite like the Bulldogs do with those guys.

Recruiting is what gives programs a chance to win. Getting elite talent is necessary to compete for national championships. The Buckeyes have competed for two national titles in the last decade. It should have been three but a missed field goal doomed them last year.

If they can continue to recruit like this, they will compete for more national titles in the years to come. It’s almost impossible to not see them playing for it all when they accumulate the amount of talent they have under Day. The players are just too darn good.
