The Ohio State football team will know tonight if they landed a top in-state cornerback recruit in Aaron Scott.

Tonight will be a big night for the Ohio State football team and cornerbacks coach Tim Walton. Four-star, top-100 national player Aaron Scott of Springfield, Ohio will make his commitment. Scott is deciding amongst a top three that consists of the Buckeyes, Michigan, and Oregon.

This is a major opportunity for Ohio State to solidify its 2024 recruiting class and get the ball rolling on defensive recruiting. This was supposed to be a massive summer for the Buckeyes’ defensive recruiting, but so far, they only landed two big-time players in five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott and four-star Cleveland-Glenville corner Bryce West.

Pairing two in-state, top-100 corners in West and Scott would be exactly what Tim Walton needs to help reshape this cornerback’s room. There is no doubt about it that secondary recruiting has dipped in recent years, and being able to get both West and Scott would be a major step forward in helping to rebuild.

This recruitment is not a slam dunk for the Buckeyes, however. Scott took to Twitter just last week to say that he was still confused about where he’d wind up. Hopefully, that is just talk to add some excitement to his commitment, because if it’s not, Scott should take all the time he needs to make a decision. Not being 100 percent sold on a school would likely lead to a de-commitment in the future, something no school wants to have to endure.

The Buckeyes are fresh off the loss of its prized five-star 2025 corner Jontae Gilbert, who de-committed from Ohio State over the weekend. Hopefully, the Buckeyes could add Aaron Scott tonight to make that sting feel a bit better.
