Ohio State Football: Buckeyes still focusing on task at hand
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team was one field goal away from playing for a national title last season. In fact, they probably would have won the national title had they beaten Georgia. TCU was not going to beat the Buckeyes seeing how badly they got crushed vs. Georgia.
Now the Buckeyes are looking to take that next step of actually competing for a national title. The Ohio State football team didn’t accomplish any of its goals last season. They didn’t win the Big Ten, beat Michigan, or win a national title. They went 0-3.
This season, they are focused on the task at hand. They are looking to do all three of those things. Beating TTUN will help them win the Big Ten, so that will take care of itself. Winning the national championship is pretty much predicated on the other two goals being accomplished.
The entire team left with a bad taste in their mouth at the end of last year. They are eager to erase that taste and replace it with something sweeter. The Buckeyes need to do a lot of things better, specifically in the secondary if they want to accomplish any of those goals.
Ryan Day has talked about how focused this team is in the offseason and how they are preparing to do better with their goals. Focus is key for this team in the off-season workouts. If they want to get that extra push that elite teams get, they have to keep that focus all year long.
I hope the Buckeyes are able to keep their focus. Doing all of that should lead to a better and more satisfying season this year. Ohio State football fans are very demanding. They expect excellency. The team knows that and is doing everything they can to live up to that standard.
