Ohio State Football: The top 5 Big Ten QBs entering 2023
The former five-star QB from Medina, Ohio is primed for a huge season for Penn State in 2023. With a rocket of an arm and very good accuracy, Penn State may finally get over the hump and make the Big Ten title game with Drew Allar under center.
In limited time last year, we saw the raw potential of Allar, who threw for 344 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions as a true freshman in 2022. Look for Allar to throw for big numbers in 2023.
Kyle McCord, the prized five-star recruit is set to take over for the Ohio State football team in 2023 barring an awful fall camp or injury. He’s flashed signs of becoming a very good QB in limited action for the Buckeyes.
McCord was 16-20 last season for 190 yards and one touchdown. He also showed some wiggle in the pocket with an ability to side-step the pass rush. McCord should be the next Buckeye QB to become a Heisman contender in 2023.
The one is pretty obvious until someone can knock Michigan off. While J.J. McCarthy won’t impress you with his stats, the kid is a gamer and just flat-out wins. McCarthy threw for 2,719 yards and 22 touchdowns compared to only five picks in 2022. He also rushed for 306 yards and five scores.
McCarthy seemed to get better at throwing as the season moved along last year. The next step in his development will be becoming a more efficient passer in 2023. But for now, he is the best QB the Big Ten has to offer.
