I’m sure you’ve been following all that’s been going on at Northwestern. For those that haven’t, Pat Fitzgerald is out as head coach because of hazing issues. The university investigated the softball program for the same issues too. Ohio State football fans have been keeping a close eye on what happens.

Another bombshell dropped today with a report from The Athletic that this hazing has been going on for years within the football program and that Northwestern administrators should have known about it. Multiple victims have come out to speak about it.

This could spell big trouble for the Wildcats. this is something that leads to multiple lawsuits and could be very expensive. It also could cost a lot of people their jobs. Ohio State knows this from the Richard Strauss mess that has been hanging over the university.

For Ohio State football fans, this is a warning of what can happen when a coach starts to treat players badly. Urban Meyer did so in the pros and probably did it to an extent while he was with the Buckeyes. It cost him his job at both places. Now, Northwestern is dealing with it too.

I don’t know what’s going to happen with the rest of the investigation and how the university is going to handle things. I do know that hazing is not something that should be condoned anywhere, especially with the types of things that were going on there.

It’s a true shame that this stuff is still happening in 2023. You would think that programs would learn from other programs’ mistakes. Instead, this kind of stuff keeps coming out. This is why Ryan Day is such a good leader. He doesn’t have anything remotely like this.

Day just needs to win a few more games that matter. Other than that, his team culture is excellent, unlike at Northwestern.
