Ohio State Football: Hartline closing in on last top 2024 WR recruit
The Ohio State football team and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline are trying to put the finishing touches on the 2024 WR recruiting class.
The Ohio State football program continues to recruit at a high level as the Buckeyes currently sit at No. 2 in the latest 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2024 class. That list includes two five-star wide receiver commits in Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham. Offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline hopes to add a third receiver to that mix soon.
Jeremiah McClellan, a four-star, top-100 national player from St. Louis, Missouri has put Ohio State in his top five schools. With crystal ball predictions from 247 Sports leaning the Buckeyes’ way, Ohio State seems to be in a prime position to land this top remaining target at receiver.
Hayes Fawcett of On3 Recruiting Tweeted out McClellan’s top five yesterday, a list that includes Ohio State, Oregon, LSU, Georgia, and Missouri. The Buckeyes and Brian Hartline have been very interested in McClellan for a while now and have put on the full-court press for his commitment ever since the Buckeyes landed Smith and Graham. It’s believed that Oregon and LSU are his other top considerations.
McClellan would provide the Ohio State football team with some more depth in the receiver room, one that is probably going to be losing at least three players next offseason in Marvin Harrison Jr., Emeka Egbuka, and Julian Flemming. Ohio State’s collection of guys in that room is still really good.
McClellan has said that he plans to make a decision sometime in August, so we will know fairly quickly how this one plays out. Hopefully, Hartline and company can keep the momentum that they have seemed to build over the past few months right up to his decision.
