Ohio State Football: Teams Buckeyes have never beaten
By Ryan Stano
7. Tennessee
Believe it or not, the Ohio State football team hasn’t beaten five SEC teams. That’s by far the most of any conference. Part of the reason for that is the Buckeyes haven’t had many matchups against these teams. That’s certainly true for the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Buckeyes have only played Tennessee one time ever. That was back in 1996 when both teams were powerhouses. Peyton Manning was leading the Volunteers and Ohio State had one of their best teams ever. That 1995 team is one of the best teams to never win a national title.
This game is yet another example of Cooper not being able to win a big game. The Buckeyes had Heisman Trophy winner in Eddie George and yet still lost to TTUN to keep them out of the national championship picture. Instead, they faced Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl.
In that Citrus Bowl, you could tell the Buckeyes didn’t have the same fire they did earlier in the year. That loss to Michigan clearly devastated them. Ohio State fell to the Volunteers 20-14 and ended the 1995 season on the sourest of notes after having such great promise.
There you have it. Those are the seven programs the Ohio State football team has never beaten. Hopefully, they can get some wins over some of these teams soon.
