Ohio State Football: Teams Buckeyes have never beaten
By Ryan Stano
4. Florida State
This is the only ACC team that appears on this list. Surprisingly, Ohio State has only played Florida State three times ever. Unfortunately for them, they have lost all three of them. The games haven’t been close either. On average, Ohio State only scored 19.3 points to Florida State’s 33.7 in those games.
The first matchup was all the way back in 1981. The most recent matchup was in 1998 at the height of Florida State’s powers. That was also when Cooper was towards the end of his tenure. It was another big game that he failed to win and that reputation cost him his job.
In that 1998 Sugar Bowl, the Buckeyes got blasted 31-14. They entered the game ranked 10th in the country while the Seminoles were 4th. The Buckeyes never had a shot to win the game though. It was a blowout from the moment the ball was snapped.
I’m a little surprised these teams haven’t scheduled a home-and-home recently. Florida State is a down program right now and has been since they won a national title a decade ago. Maybe it’s a matchup they schedule a few years down the line.
The next team on this list is the most recent team to have beaten the Buckeyes.
