The Ohio State football team is expected to have one of the most talented teams in all of college football once again. This is of no surprise with how well they recruit. They should be one of the top teams every single year until that recruiting falls off somehow.

With that talent come NFL Draft expectations. No one has more first-round picks than the Ohio State football program. They are looking to add quite a few of them this year. I’ve seen some early mock drafts that have the Buckeyes putting as many as five players into the first round for 2024.

Is that really possible? Are the Buckeyes really that talented? Looking at their roster, I see two no-doubt first-round picks. Those are Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka. Both of those players should be top-ten picks. In Harrison’s case, he could go in the top five.

Donovan Jackson is another guy I expect to go in the first round. He seems like a top-20 talent to me and should go somewhere in that range. The offense is so talented that I don’t think it’s a stretch to see three offensive guys go in the first round.

Defensively, I’ve seen both Mike Hall and J.T. Tuimoloau get first-round projections as well. JTT has a couple of all-world games on his resume, but the consistency isn’t there yet. He hasn’t been consistently dominant enough to earn that first-round grade from me.

Hall is the same way. Last year was the first year he got consistent snaps. He was quite good and definitely showcased some first-round potential, but he has to put together a productive season first. He’s got an opportunity to be really disruptive up front.

The one on defense I’ve seen that I can’t explain yet is Denzel Burke. He was incredible in his freshman season and pretty bad last year. Why does that scream first-round grade? I don’t get it personally, but he has a lot of talent. I’d love to see him play that well this year.

Next. Ohio State has weirdly never played these FBS teams. dark

Five first-round picks is a bit much for me at this point. I’ll say this though; if the Buckeyes do get five players into next year’s first round, that means there’s a good chance they won a national championship.
