Ohio State Football lands coveted Cleveland tight end
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program has been really putting on the full-court press when it comes to recruiting lately. Now that camp season is over for June, they have a lot of official visits scheduled from recruits, including some this past weekend. Now they are starting to see the fruits of their labor.
Ohio State got a commitment from a four-star tight end Demarion Witten. Witten is from Cleveland Glenville High School, the same school a teammate who just committed to the Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon attends as well. Witten decided his best place for college was with Bryce West in Columbus.
Witten stands at 6’4 and 215 pounds. His size makes him a good target down the middle of the field as a pass-catcher. He’s a pretty decent blocker too. Ryan Day and the coaching staff are looking for people just like Witten who are versatile.
The Buckeyes have a renewed commitment to getting the best people from the state of Ohio. These two recruits that just committed are part of that effort. Witten is a good prospect that has a high ceiling. Those are the types of prospects the Ohio State football program is looking at for tight end.
With these two commitments, the Buckeyes have jumped to second in the recruiting rankings. They are now ahead of Michigan and sit only behind Georgia, the team that ended their season last year. Ohio State has fewer commits to this point though so they can still catch them.
Ohio State still has several prospects making official visits in the next few weeks. They will have the opportunity to increase their ranking even more once those commits make decisions. They should be getting more help in the secondary soon too, which is a priority for them.
