Heart issues are not something to mess around with at any age. Unfortunately, those issues are extremely hard to predict and you don’t know when they can crop up. Current Ohio State football player Zak Herbstreit learned this when he was admitted to the hospital earlier this week.

While Herbstreit is out of the hospital now, he will have a long road to recovery according to his dad Kirk. Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show today, he let everyone know that Zak is doing better at home but will still have a long road to recovery battling his issue.

In that clip, Kirk mentions that it’s a waiting game with the medications that Zak is taking to see if they end up working. He mentioned it’s more of a three to four-month waiting period. He didn’t disclose specifically what kind of issue it is, but it doesn’t sound great.

Herbstreit also mentioned that he just came back from a walk with his son around the block. It’s good that he is up and moving, but it sounds like football is the furthest thing from his mind right now. Getting better is going to take a lot longer than I thought it seems.

I’d be surprised if Herbstreit dressed for any Ohio State football game this year based on this. While we don’t know exactly what’s going on, we certainly wish him the best and hope for a speedy recovery. Any updates that can be given will certainly be shared with you.
