Ohio State Football: Air Noland outperforms TTUN recruit at Elite 11
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has Air Noland as their 2024 recruit at the quarterback position. He has done well since committing to the Buckeyes and was invited to the Elite 11 to compete against some of the other top quarterbacks in the country.
One of the quarterbacks he was competing against was Jaydn Davis. Davis is a five-star recruit that committed to TTUN after Ohio State had already decided they wanted Noland. Davis actually wanted to come to Columbus, but the Buckeyes had already committed to Noland as their guy.
Both guys got to head to the Elite 11. On both days, Noland was ranked higher in his workouts than Davis was. That means that Noland was just flat-out better during the entire camp. That’s something that’s fairly significant since both QBs obviously wanted to be a Buckeye and only one of them is.
Am I saying that this means Noland is going to be the better quarterback for sure? We can’t possibly know that yet. Neither one of them has taken a collegiate snap yet. What I will say is that I trust Ryan Day’s evaluations when it comes to quarterback talent.
Day has developed three quarterbacks into first-round picks. TTUN hasn’t had a QB taken in the first round since 1987. That was current TTUN coach Jim Harbaugh. They aren’t a program that develops QBs to succeed at the next level like the Ohio State football program is.
Only time will tell which of these two quarterbacks will end up being better. I don’t think we’ll see either one of them take meaningful snaps until 2025 at the earliest. it’s still fun to see them compete against each other and see that Noland came out on top.
While Noland didn’t win MVP, he was still darn good out there.
