Ohio State Football: Six Buckeyes make Phil Steele’s All-American Teams
The Ohio State football team should be loaded for 2023. Phil Steele has six Buckeyes making his All-American preseason teams.
The Ohio State football team should be loaded for 2023 with many returning starters on both offense and defense. Tops among them include Marvin Harrison Jr., Emeka Egbuka, and J.T. Tuimoloau. Recently, Phil Steele, a highly respected college football analyst based out of Cleveland, put out his preseason All-American teams, which included six Ohio State football players.
On Steele’s first team, he included maybe the best player in all of college football, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Harrison, who should be seen as a First-team pick on most lists, is joined by linebacker Tommy Eichenberg as well.
Both players should be major contributors and could ultimately decide how the Buckeyes fair in 2023. Harrison looks to top his 2022 numbers of 77 receptions for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdown grabs while Eichenberg led the team in tackles with 120.
On Steele’s Second-team, he included receiver Emeka Egbuka, offensive lineman Donovan Jackson, and defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau. Egbuka was probably the best slot receiver in the nation last season collecting 74 catches for 1,151 yards and 10 scores of his own. Egubuka and Harrison figure to be the best receiving duo in college football and should help the new Buckeye starting quarterback tremendously in 2023.
Jackson, the former five-star recruit will undoubtedly be Ohio State’s best offensive lineman in 2023 and they will need him as they break in three new starters around him. Tuimoloau only recorded 3.5 sacks last season, but most experts expect that number to jump significantly in 2023.
Lastly, TreyVeon Henderson rounds out the Ohio State players on Phil Steele’s All-American teams as a Third-team selection. Henderson had an injury prone 2022 but if healthy, Henderson is capable of putting up monster numbers as he did as a freshman in 2021 with 1,248 yards on the ground to go along with 15 touchdowns.
Six Buckeyes cracking Steele’s All-American teams proves that the Buckeyes are locked and loaded for 2023. As long as the quarterback and offensive line situations pan out, Ohio State should squarely be in the mix for a national title come next season.
