Ohio State Football top ten all-time passers in Buckeyes history
By Ryan Stano
Ohio State football career passing leader No. 1: J.T. Barrett
- 9,434 yards passing
- 104 TDs
- 30 INTs
- 63.5% completion
The start of J.T. Barrett‘s career was unconventional. He was thrust into the starting job in 2014 after Braxton Miller’s shoulder was hurt a couple of weeks before the season started. He then helped lead the Buckeyes to one of the most unlikely runs in college football history.
Ohio State ended up winning the national championship that year while Cardale Jones led them after Barrett broke his leg against TTUN. Barrett then lost his job to start the 2015 season to Jones before getting it back for good midway through that season.
Through it all, Barrett accumulated 9,434 yards, 104 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions in his four years. He completed 63.5% of his passes in his time with the Buckeyes. He also won a lot of games in his time, including a national championship during that 2014 season.
Barrett has a statistical argument to be named the greatest Ohio State quarterback of all time. He by far and away leads the Buckeyes in career yards and touchdowns. He also has a clear memorable game. His comeback-leading performance against Penn State in 2017 was clearly the best game of his career.
Those are the ten most prolific passers in Ohio State football history! Who knows? If Devin Brown wins the job this year then maybe he can find his way onto this list at some point.
