The Ohio State football team did have a pretty good season in 2022 despite the way that it finished. They made the College Football Playoff and came within a missed field goal from making it to the National Championship Game. They would have throttled TCU in that game too.

Despite all of that success, there are some performances from last season that go unremembered because of the fact that the Buckeyes lost the last two games they played. Zach Harrison’s performance against Iowa. Lathan Ransom’s performance against IU is another one.

Perhaps the best performance that no one remembers from last season that could translate into big things this year is Emeka Egbuka‘s performance against TTUN. Egbuka finished that game with 9 catches for 125 yards and a touchdown. He was really good in that loss.

That performance doesn’t get remembered because the Ohio State football team lost their second-straight game to TTUN. It’s a performance that could end up paying dividends in this upcoming season though. He used that performance to have a nice 8 catches, 112 yards, and a touchdown in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia.

In those last two games, Egbuka had 17 catches for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns. When the better teams started stepping up on Marvin Harrison Jr., Egbuka showed that he could be the go-to guy as well. The same thing is going to be needed from him this season.

I think Egbuka is going to have a really good final year in 2023. He’s poised to be a top-ten pick in next year’s NFL Draft with a solid season. I think he’s going to put up numbers that would make most teams happy if he was their number-one receiver, and he’s clearly the number-two at Ohio State.

Jim Knowles says he will unleash this former five-star. dark. Next

Even though his quality play against TTUN will get lost in Ohio State fans’ memories, he’ll be sure to make a lot of new ones this year.
