Ex-Ohio State football player Devin Smith to enter the Tiger Hall of Fame

Former Ohio State Buckeye football player Devin Smith has been selected to be in the Tiger Football Hall of Fame at Massillon Washington High School, a legendary high school football powerhouse.

Smith joins the following notable Buckeyes who are currently in the Tigers Football Hall of Fame: Chris Spielman, Justin Zwick, Paul Brown, Jim Houston, Joe Sparma, Travis McGuire, Edwin “Dutch” Hill, Steve Luke, Charles Anderson, Bob Vogel, George Slusser, Jim Reichbach, Lin Houston, Tommy James, Horace Gillom, John Mulbach, and Devin Jordan.

Jordan, who played three seasons under Jim Tressel, is currently on the coaching staff at Ohio State as a program assistant to the offense. College Football Hall of Famer Chris Spielman was a notable radio personality for years in Columbus, Ohio following his NFL career before heading back to Detroit, where he played a majority of his NFL career for the Lions. Currently, Spielman serves as special assistant to the President of football operations.

Smith, who played for the Ohio State football program from 2011 until 2014, will always be remembered as one of the seniors to lead the Buckeyes to the 2014 National Championship. He finished his career at Ohio State with 121 receptions, 2,503 yards, and 30 touchdowns.

His run with quarterback Cardale Jones in the final three games of the 2014 season was legendary. In the Big 10 Championship game against Wisconsin, Smith had three touchdown receptions, all of which were over 35 yards. Smith added another 163 yards and a score in the college football playoffs.

Smith made the following statement via Instagram, “I am so extremely grateful, honored, and appreciative of this and the people who chose me to be inducted. I wore that uniform with pride and always understood that I was representing something bigger than myself. The legendary players and coaches who came before me, the tradition of the town, history of the team!”

According to the Tiger Football Hall of Fame website, inductees are selected by a group of 25 Massillon football supporters and must be a coach, player, band director, or supporter of the program who influenced the program in a positive way. There will be over 150 Hall of Famers in the Tiger Hall of Fame after this year’s ceremony.
