The Ohio State football team has been very successful under Ryan Day. That is undeniable. He has coached the Buckeyes to three College Football Playoffs and a National Championship Game. The Buckeyes have been good enough to win it all in some of those years too.

The problem has been winning the big games when it matters. Games against TTUN. The game against Georgia. The National Championship Game against Alabama. None of those games went the way of Ohio State. These are the ones that great coaches win.

Unfortunately, those are games that the Ohio State football team has lost. Now with two straight losses to TTUN, fans are getting restless. I myself have called him John Cooper 2.0. This year, there will be more pressure on him to win that game against TTUN.

How will Day react to these pressures? There is pressure every year to win that game, but there will be more pressure this year to win. If the Buckeyes were to lose The Game, it would be the first time they have lost three in a row to Michigan since the 90s.

If that does happen, then the John Cooper 2.0 allegations might really be true. This will be the best Michigan team that Ohio State will face this season. Even though the Buckeyes have other hard games to play this season, the fans’ feelings on Day will hinge on that final game of the regular season.

How Day reacts to that pressure will define his career. I think he’s smart and a good enough coach to get his team to win these close games. I just hope he’s able to make that happen soon enough that the majority of the fanbase doesn’t turn on him.

It’s going to be a really interesting year. Hopefully, it ends up being a great one for Day and the Buckeyes.
