Ohio State Football: Five most memorable plays from the 2010s
By Ryan Stano
2. Curtis Samuel beats TTUN in double-overtime.
This was one of the most stressful football games I’ve ever been to. The Ohio State football team was fighting to keep their streak of victories alive against TTUN. They weren’t playing particularly well offensively in this game and had already missed two field goals.
Those missed field goals made Urban Meyer decide to go for it on fourth down where J.T. Barrett converted it by a nose. The play was reviewed and the first down stood as called. One play later, Curtis Samuel scampered into the endzone to beat TTUN in double-overtime.
Samuel scored pretty easily on this play. It was clear that TTUN had thought they had won the game on the prior play. They thought they stopped Barrett short. When the play stood as called, they were clearly deflated. They knew that was their only chance to win.
After Samuel scored, the stands erupted and fans started trickling onto the field. It sealed the Buckeyes a chance to play for a Big Ten Title and a spot in the College Football Playoff. It stands alone as the most memorable play in The Game’s history for me.
You can probably guess the number one play on this list. It’s one I will certainly never forget.
