99 days until Ohio State football returns
By Eric Boggs
The countdown to the beginning of Ohio State’s 2023 football season has officially entered the double digits. In just 99 days the Buckeyes will invade Memorial Stadium on the campus of Indiana University on September 2. This will be Ryan Day’s fifth season at the helm.
Since his first season in 2019, Day has accumulated an overall record of 45 wins to just 6 losses. However, two of the hardest losses to swallow for Buckeye fans during Day’s tenure have been the past two.
Ohio State was embarrassed at home against That Team Up North by a score of 45-to-23 for Day’s second straight loss to his rival. Despite not getting a chance to win the Big 10 Conference, the Buckeyes were invited to the College Football Playoff and had the number one-seeded Georgia Bulldogs on the ropes before the ball bounced their way in the fourth quarter and Day lost a second straight game, this one by the score of 41-to-42.
This off-season, the Ohio State football program has been very quiet but has made small significant changes to its approach. Day and his staff have been more aggressive in filling their roster needs and deficiencies via the transfer portal. There also hasn’t been a lot of talk by the coaches or players about how last season ended.
There appears to be a quiet professionalism to accomplishing this season’s goals without all the circus that tends to surround the Ohio State and Michigan programs during the off-season as they size up one another for the upcoming season.
The Ohio State football team will face their rival on Saturday, November 25 in Ann Arbor, MI. Until then, and until the season begins, you can countdown the remaining days during the off-season with us at The OHIO Podcast and here at Scarlet & Game.
