The Ohio State football team had horrible injury luck at the running back position last season. One by one the backs kept going down throughout the year. Evan Pryor was one of those backs, although he tore his ACL before the season even started.

Pryor was expected to be the third running back and was expected to get a significant amount of snaps. Now there’s a chance that he could be out of the rotation for good with the emergence of Dallan Hayden and with Chip Traynum moving back to running back.

So what should we expect from the former four-star recruit? He only played in four games as a freshman, recording 98 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Is he someone that can make an impact for this Ohio State football team this season?

I think he is. He’s not going to be taking snaps from the top two guys but he has the size to be a good back in short-yardage situations. He has enough burst on the outside to be used as a receiver out of the backfield as well. His impact won’t be significant though.

If Pryor stays with the Buckeyes next season, he has a chance to be one of the top two backs on the roster. I’m not positive he would stay though. I think he could be a candidate to transfer next season if he doesn’t see the kind of snaps he thinks he should get this year.

The torn ACL really screwed Pryor out of getting a chance to be a true impact player with the Buckeyes. Now he’s stuck behind two great running backs and might be stuck behind a third who is younger than him. I do hope that Pryor is able to play well this year and show that talent we saw in high school.
