The Ohio State football program produced a bunch of great defensive backs in the 2010s. Urban Meyer really had some excellent members of the secondary. One of those players who he recruited and ended up being a first-round pick was Damon Arnette.

Arnette was a surprise first-round pick. The Raiders took him 19th overall back in the 2020 Draft when Arnette was widely seen as a second-round talent. The Raiders took a chance on him. It did not go well almost immediately for him in Las Vegas after a pretty decent Buckeye career.

Arnette didn’t even last two full seasons with the Raiders and played in just 13 career games. He was released after a video of him was put online brandishing a gun and making death threats. That’s not his only trouble with the law because now, he’s in even more trouble.

While he was in Las Vegas, Arnette allegedly pulled a gun on a valet attendant after he didn’t provide the proper type of ID to retrieve his vehicle. Because of that, Arnette has now been indicted on felony assault and gun charges due to that incident.

I was never a big fan of Arnette even when he was with the Ohio State football program. I thought he was too cocky and always celebrated plays that he had no influence on too much. His NFL career is likely over now that he’s had this many run-ins with the law.

I do hope that Arnette can turn his life around though. I never want to see anyone struggle. He needs to get some people around him who can help keep him away from situations like this. He needs to focus on his life now and leave football behind.
